Célia has in her heart and soul the sun that shines on la Réunion Island. Célia is the least complicated person I know. Always smiling, always positive even when her world is upside down, she enlightens the people around her….
“I grew up in Reunion Island next to Madagascar where I started playing squash at the age of 8 years old, following my dad’s path. Pascal Lincou (Thierry’s brother) and Stephane Fungere coached me at the ASCTR club until the age of 16.
“I then moved to France to enter the National Training Center in Aix-en-Provence. There I was coached by Fred Lecomte. I passed my first degree exam to be a coach, and then graduate from the Sports and Science University of Marseille.
“As a junior, I won the French nationals in every age group from U13 to U19. I also won the French open twice, the Belgium open and the Irish open. I made the final of the European Team Championships in U17 and U19 playing for France.
“As a senior, I reached the final of the French Nationals in 2006 and represented France at the European Championships and World Championships both in individuals and teams event from 2004 to 2010. On the WSA tour, I made the final of the Zwolle open and the Galway open, beating some of the top seeds.
“Now based in Stamford CT, I work as a squash coach and still play on the WSA tour.”
